JOB DESCRIPTION: The Senior Accountant reports to the Refinery Accounting Manager and is the senior financial role within the Refinery's Accounting and Control Team. This is a high profile role which has significant interaction with the West Coast Fuels Value Chain and other teams within the BP system. The position interacts with a broad range of customers within the Cherry Point Refinery, including: Senior Management, Projects, Turnaround, Operations, Technology, and Maintenance in delivering Cherry Point's business plan and control compliance agenda.

With the transition to the new West Coast Fuels Value Chain, this position is considered to be an excellent developmental role for someone seen as having significant future career potential , and in particular is a succession candidate for Accounting Manager positions at BP refineries and within Fuels Value Chains (assuming excellent performance and growth)

The role supports the Accounting Manager in ensuring that transactions and results are recorded, reported, and forecast with integrity and in a timely manner. The Senior Accountant also plays a key leadership role in ensuring that the refinery maintains sustainable internal controls that effectively support the business and ensure continued compliance with all Sarbanes Oxley Internal Control requirements.

The position is responsible for the Refinery's monthly financial close process consistent with the World Class Close Schedule and signs off for the BU's financial results at each month end. Other key responsibilities include assisting in the GFO Forecasting Process and the planning process and monitoring compliance with internal control practices & procedures. Finally, the role involves participation in special projects, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance degree with Accounting Minor

. Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.

. Minimum 3-years experience in a Manufacturing business with preference for Refining experience

. A minimum of 7-10 years of experience with accounting, internal controls, and financial and/or audit roles with demonstrated career progression indicating increased responsibility

. Minimum two years experience in either public accounting or financial reporting

. Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP a plus

. Working knowledge of Maximo a plus

. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

. Ability to manage multiple/conflicting priorities with a strong track record of delivery.

. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels within the organization

. Proven leadership capability with ability to engage teams outside of accounting in delivery of departmental objectives

. Ability to lead special projects as required and to engage the expertise of teams outside of accounting in achieving project goals??? Intermediate skills with Microsoft Word.

. Intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel.

. Intermediate skills with Microsoft PowerPoint.
