JOB DESCRIPTION: IP NOC Backbone Engineers work in Cox Communications 24x7 Network Operations Center, supporting Cox IP backbone infrastructure. The position is shift-based including weekend days. IP NOC Backbone Engineers are responsible for surveillance, triage, repair, and scheduled maintenance activities for Cox's National IP backbone, supporting all Cox local systems. The IP Backbone supports services such as Voice over IP, Broadcast Video; MPLS layer 2 and layer 3 VPN, SS7. IP NOC Backbone Engineers are proactive, problem solvers using analytical, process-oriented troubleshooting to maintain strict network reliability SLAs.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Monitor the Cox Backbone using Network Management software such as Netcool.
2. Document network issues using Remedy ticketing software.
3. Provide Tier 3 support as break/fix agent for all Cox Backbone related issues.
4. Perform scheduled maintenance activity on the Cox Backbone.
5. Provide escalation support for Field Engineers.
6. Work with various vendors on issues related to hardware and software defects for multiple router and switch platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Technical Skills:

1. Typically requires BS/BA or Associates degree in related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in related field. MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas.
2. JNCIA or higher Juniper certification is required.
3. Minimum 2 years working as an IP Engineer.
4. Minimum 2 years experience troubleshooting MPLS, BGP, and OSPF.
5. Layer 2 switching and VLANs
6. Proficiency with troubleshooting routing policies.
7. Proficiency with troubleshooting firewall filters.
