A postdoctoral position is available to qualified candidates to conduct metabolomics and mass spectrometric imaging research in plant systems. The individual will be part of a multidisciplinary team at the Ames Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory located on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.  This team has developed  mass spectrometric imaging technology and is applying it for dissecting complex metabolic networks.  Recent publications from the group can be found at http://www.ameslab.gov/cbs/fwp/mass-spectrometric-imaging.  The candidate will take advantage of existing plant genetic resources, and apply metabolomic and mass spectrometric imaging analyses with the goal of better understanding metabolic networks and regulation.  A Ph.D. in chemistry and/or biochemistry or related field, with experience in analytical chemistry and mass spectroscopy is required, and knowledge of plant biology is also desirable.  The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate independence and creativity.  Good oral and written skills and a strong publication record in refereed journals are required.
